The number one reason to have a website is to attract new patients. A website should also serve as resource for current patients as to refer people to your practice.  One of the most important steps in building a great website is to know your ideal audience. This allows you to better serve them. What’s most important is sharing yourself, your personality. Share your culture on your website, share your practice’s story through your website. Share before and after pictures. That’s what people connect with.

When creating your website, decide what type of practice you want to be and present that on your website as well as on social media.

To get your social media right you have to get your website right.  Cookie cutter websites don’t cut it. It’s also very important to keep a consistent branding on your website, on social, and in your practice.

Here’s What Makes a Great Dental Website:

·      A Customized design that is unique to the practice

·      Posts that allow site visitors to emotionally connect with your practice

·      The website should be responsive for mobile

·      It should have a quick button for people to contact you

·      It should have unique content and copywriting

·      It should share the office philosophy

·      It should provide value

·      It should have video integration

·      It should have your before and after pictures

·      It should never have duplicate content from other websites

·      It should have a map and directions

Here are a Few More Tips to Use in Your Website Design:

·      Great introduction copy

·      Create a call to action

·      Place your phone number on the top right

·      Use horizontal navigation

·      Use legible font

·      Never have a black background with white text

·      Use unique pictures of you practice

·      Feature your services

·      Have a commonly asked questions section

·      Have a contact form on every internal page

James M. Dahle, an emergency physician,  learned the hard way that growing your wealth begins with having good advice and understanding the wealth creation process. In general, James says that doctors like him save too little, buy too much house, rush into employment contracts rather than seeking an ownership position, get bad financial advice from commissioned salesmen who are usually peddling loaded mutual funds or whole life insurance, pay too much for good advice, and have disorganized investing plans. To help his colleagues, James started The White Coat Investor, a blog that offers doctors and other high-income professionals advice on personal finance and investing.

In today's episode James and I discuss the first steps that dentists should take to start to grow their wealth.  We discuss the ideal percentage that should be saved and invested to ensure financial freedom, as well as the mindset that someone must have to be financially free. James shares investment strategies as well as strategies that you can use with your kids to start them on a path of investing. This episode is packed with lots of value, and you'll want to make sure that you listen to the very end.

Anissa Holmes- From an early age Anissa Holmes knew she had the heart of an entrepreneur. But because there were no entrepreneurs in her family she thought the only path to success would mean becoming a dentist, doctor or lawyer. She built a highly successful dental practice for 13 years but the entrepreneurial voice inside her would not abate.….

Dr. Anissa Holmes is a dentist and social media expert. Voted one of the “Top 25 Women in Dentistry” by Dental Products Report, she has mastered the skill of using social media. She now has a Facebook following of over 48,000 fans. She discovered that the most effective way to get massive results is to first have a vision. In her Delivering WOW Dental podcast and online, she shares the steps to help develop a business culture, systems, and brand.

How Did You Start Using Your Talents?

From an early age, Anissa knew she wanted to be a doctor. So she worked really hard in school and always had good grades. In hindsight she also sees she had the heart of an entrepreneur, but “I really didn’t have any entrepreneurs in my family. I thought the path to success would mean becoming a dentist, doctor or lawyer.”

The Most Impactful Turning Point?

“Before I came into the full coaching experience, I was one of those people who thought that every day I would just go to work and be a dentist. Then, at the end of my life I would have done the same thing every day.” Coaching changed all that for Anissa. “Through coaching I learned how to create a business that could essentially run without me. Now my practice runs on systems, and on having an amazing team, culture and brand. I really don’t have to be working in the business so much. I’m still practicing dentistry three days a week and have some other dentists working with me as well. This has allowed me—after practicing for 16 years—to look at my legacy, and how I can help others. Part of that legacy is that I can help other dentists get to the place of having a profitable practice, understand about culture, systems and branding, and deliver what I call, ‘WOW!’ Now I really am making a difference!”

The Most Powerful Lesson Learned?

“If you want to go to Europe, you need to book a ticket. You need to take some action, and that’s really the only way. A lot of people have big dreams. Lots of people go to seminars, they learn things, and then they just go back to doing the same thing. I think the reason I’ve had the success I’ve had is because I am an action-taker. If I learn something, I put it into action, and I also set a deadline.”

Steps to Success from Anissa Holmes

1. Discover what is your WHY? What motivates you?

2. Use your WHY to develop a clear vision, with goals, actions and deadlines.

3. Make sure that, at the end of your life, you can say you actually made a difference.

4. Reach out to people who can help you. You don’t know everything.

Colin Receveur is marketing dynamo. Even though SmartBox was incorporated in 2001, it began inside Colin during his childhood. Colin's  experience helping dentists predates search engine optimization (SEO), Google, websites and even the Internet. He worked almost every day in his fathers officeand spent almost every night on the family's Compaq computer (remember those?) in the early morning hours learning how to design and code websites in the Internets infancy. Though his dad is a dentist, Colins mom was a top sales executive with a Fortune 100 healthcare organization. So it was only natural for him to want to monetize his interest in websites.

In this episode, we discuss key steps that dentists can take to drive traffic to their website, as well top ways that dentists can convert those prospects into new patients. We also discuss the benefits of tracking the ROI of marketing strategies and the benefits of retargeting. A special mention is made to Social Media, and in particular Google Plus in increasing SEO.

In today's episode, I share a recent interview on the Start Your Dental Practice Podcast, where I was interviewed by Jonathan Van Horn.

Here's what we discussed:

When you’re starting your dental practice, there are some key things you need to look at:

  • Finding a good location

  • Knowing what equipment to buy

  • Hiring the right people

But so many dentists tend to overlook a powerful aspect of the business that sets the framework for years of success:

The culture.

When you build a culture that customers (both external and internal) are excited to be a part of, you then have a story to tell.

Having a story allows you to create experiences.

And experiences are what people love to talk (and hear) about. Both online and offline.

Here's The Free Guide Which Accompanies This Episode:

Here are a few things you’ll discover in today’s episode:

  • Why giving good service isn’t enough on its own to run a successful business (and what you can do to have an amazing dental practice)

  • The importance of having a vision (for yourself and for your team)

  • How to promote your culture and core values within your practice

  • Tips for creating systems to train new employees more effectively (and have consistency)

  • How cross-training can prove to be valuable (especially when you’re short-handed)

  • Places where you can recruit talent (where you normally wouldn’t think to look)

  • The difference between building your culture and building your brand

  • The best way to build a brand

  • How to get testimonials that make others eager to come see you

  • How to generate 1500% ROI using Facebook for your dental practice

  • What you should promote (before you start promoting offers)

And a lot more.

Dr. Don Deems, trademarked the Dentist's Coach, shares lots of useful tips how dentists can systematize their practices for consistency. Dr. Deems  discusses that all great athletes have a coach, as well as the mindset that dentists must have when taking on a coach.

Dentists typically find themselves consumed with running their practice and dealing with the unlimited demands that seem to surface daily. Working with a coach, dentists have the unusual opportunity to work on their business, instead of inside it. They have the opportunity to reflect on what they’re doing, to identify their interests and values, and have a silent, objective partner—like having your own private board of directors.

Because most dentists have a solo practice, they’re constantly second-guessing what they’re doing, trying to identify market trends, trying to keep up with changing technology and knowledge, hiring, firing, managing—you name it. Add a little government or other third party intervention, and it’s overwhelming to most. Attending practice management programs, workshops, and seminars help, but the underlying message they are often left with is “Do it like me.”

Thus, many dentists struggle for years trying to emulate other dentists and nearly always without success. Coaching draws on the client’s knowledge, intuition, innate wisdom, individual experience, and skills, using those aspects to assist them to develop the practice of their own dreams—not someone else’s dreams. A coach may enhance those client’s skills with further skills training, such as relating, listening, advising, strategizing, and the like. The possibilities are practically endless, and a dentist may choose to work with a coach for business or personal reasons—usually both.

What makes coaching so effective is due to many aspects inherent in the coaching process. For example, accountability is critical. Once you’ve identified what you want for your practice or for yourself, a coach assists you in keeping on track. Coaching is also highly valuable because it gives you someone else’s perspective—someone you trust because he or she knows you and your goals—which in turn opens possibilities that may have been hidden. A coach is a great sounding board for what’s working and what’s not…extremely valuable to dentists who are mostly isolated from one another.
