Dr. Anissa Holmes is a dentist and social media expert. Voted one of the “Top 25 Women in Dentistry” by Dental Products Report, she has mastered the skill of using social media. She now has a Facebook following of over 48,000 fans. She discovered that the most effective way to get massive results is to first have a vision. In her Delivering WOW Dental podcast and online, she shares the steps to help develop a business culture, systems, and brand.
From an early age, Anissa knew she wanted to be a doctor. So she worked really hard in school and always had good grades. In hindsight she also sees she had the heart of an entrepreneur, but “I really didn’t have any entrepreneurs in my family. I thought the path to success would mean becoming a dentist, doctor or lawyer.”
“Before I came into the full coaching experience, I was one of those people who thought that every day I would just go to work and be a dentist. Then, at the end of my life I would have done the same thing every day.” Coaching changed all that for Anissa. “Through coaching I learned how to create a business that could essentially run without me. Now my practice runs on systems, and on having an amazing team, culture and brand. I really don’t have to be working in the business so much. I’m still practicing dentistry three days a week and have some other dentists working with me as well. This has allowed me—after practicing for 16 years—to look at my legacy, and how I can help others. Part of that legacy is that I can help other dentists get to the place of having a profitable practice, understand about culture, systems and branding, and deliver what I call, ‘WOW!’ Now I really am making a difference!”
“If you want to go to Europe, you need to book a ticket. You need to take some action, and that’s really the only way. A lot of people have big dreams. Lots of people go to seminars, they learn things, and then they just go back to doing the same thing. I think the reason I’ve had the success I’ve had is because I am an action-taker. If I learn something, I put it into action, and I also set a deadline.”
1. Discover what is your WHY? What motivates you?
2. Use your WHY to develop a clear vision, with goals, actions and deadlines.
3. Make sure that, at the end of your life, you can say you actually made a difference.
4. Reach out to people who can help you. You don’t know everything.

Mike Michalowicz is the entrepreneur behind three multi-million dollar companies and is the author of Profit First, The Pumpkin Plan, and what BusinessWeek deemed the entrepreneur's cult classic, The Toilet Paper Entrepreneur. Mike is a former small business columnist for The Wall Street Journal and the former business makeover specialist on MSNBC. Today Mike travels the world as an entrepreneurial advocate speaking to groups just like ours. He is globally recognized as the guy who "challenges out dated business beliefs" and teaches us what to do about it.
In today's episode, Mike and I discuss the true definition of success. He discusses what is a wealthy life, as well as how to discover your passion and your purpose. We discuss why focusing on the top line, production and collections, is not most important. He discusses his revolutionary concept of taking profit first, and running your business, or your life on what's left. He also discusses the difference between cash in the bank and profits. Finally, Mike shares what dentists should focus on most to achieve true success.
Colin Receveur is marketing dynamo. Even though SmartBox was incorporated in 2001, it began inside Colin during his childhood. Colin's experience helping dentists predates search engine optimization (SEO), Google, websites and even the Internet. He worked almost every day in his fathers officeand spent almost every night on the family's Compaq computer (remember those?) in the early morning hours learning how to design and code websites in the Internets infancy. Though his dad is a dentist, Colins mom was a top sales executive with a Fortune 100 healthcare organization. So it was only natural for him to want to monetize his interest in websites.
In this episode, we discuss key steps that dentists can take to drive traffic to their website, as well top ways that dentists can convert those prospects into new patients. We also discuss the benefits of tracking the ROI of marketing strategies and the benefits of retargeting. A special mention is made to Social Media, and in particular Google Plus in increasing SEO.
